Friends of European Art offers our members enticing travel opportunities to domestic and international destinations. Our trips feature great art and architecture enhanced by the knowledge of local guides and the expertise of Tom Loughman, Curator of European Art. Fabulous meals, first class accommodations and fascinating pre-arranged itineraries make our adventures unique and rewarding. Past destinations include France, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Scotland and Spain. New York, Washington DC, Chicago and Boston are just a few of the many cities we have visited within the United States.

Autumn Art Weekend Trip to San Francisco

 Friday, October 22nd through Sunday October 24th

Organized by Pam Farrer and Donn Snyder, Friends of European Art Travel Chairmen, highlights include:

  • a friendly group of Friends of European Art  members for an Autumn weekend excursion to exciting San Francisco  
  • experience the ambiance and comfort of the Hotel Monaco, a luxury Boutique Hotel by Union Square beautifully decorated and filled with wonderful original art works!
  • meet your friends at two complimentary evening wine hours
  • enjoy a Saturday evening dining experience at a notable San Francisco restaurant
  • tour the special exhibition at the DeYoung Museum, Van Gogh, Gaugin, Cezanne and Beyond:  Post Impressionist Masterpieces from the Musee D’Orsay.  Also included are notable works by Seurat, Renoir, and Rousseau.  
  • view masterpieces at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor from antiquities of Greece and Rome to European masterworks from the 14th to 20th century.  You may be interested in seeing one or both special exhibitions:  Japanese Prints In the Era Of Impressionism illustrating Japanese print influence on European art or Mummies and Medicine, the conservation and scientific explanations surrounding the Egyptian Mummy, Irethorrou and the artifacts of his era 664-525 B.C.  Your travel Chairmen are arranging a private tour just for our group!

  • see the European influence on modern and contemporary art as you enjoy a special presentation at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art now celebrating its 75th year as one of nation’s flagship contemporary art museums.

Museum Highlights:  DeYoung Museum, Legion of Honor, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and optional Asian Museum and Jewish Contemporary Museum
